What is DreamTales?

DreamTales is a web app that makes illustrated fairy-tale stories. You choose a name, an age and a figure for your child. The figure becomes the main character of the tale. Each story is told page by page with pictures, motion and a narrator voice.

Do you use photos of my child?

DreamTales never asks for photos of your child. The app neither uploads nor stores any pictures. It also never creates a likeness of a real child.

How are the stories made?

Your choices are sent to an AI model on Google Cloud, which writes the words, draws one illustration for every page, brings scenes to life as short video clips and reads the whole story aloud. Our own director software times and assembles the video and sound into a short film.

The AI works inside a detailed set of instructions we wrote and keep refining.

Are the stories safe for young children?

The stories are written inside firm boundaries made for young children and pass through several layers of screening before they are saved: the AI's own safety filter is on for both words and pictures. A separate automated check reads the title, every page and every illustration prompt on our server. If a check is tripped, the story is rewritten once. If it is tripped again, the story is stopped rather than shown.

No automated filter is perfect, so this is layered screening, not a guarantee. If you still see something inappropriate, you can report the story directly from the player.

What does it cost?

A subscription is 179 NOK per month or 1799 NOK per year. You can also buy one-time story packs: 5 stories for 199 NOK or 10 stories for 349 NOK. Payment is handled by Stripe. There is no free trial; the example story is the only free taste and you subscribe to make your own.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You manage and cancel your subscription in the Stripe billing portal, reachable from Dashboard → Account → Manage subscription. Note: deleting your account does NOT cancel a subscription, so cancel it separately to avoid being charged again.

How do I delete my account and data?

You can delete your account at any time from Dashboard → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes everything: the details about the children you added, all stories, illustrations, narrations and settings. This cannot be undone.

Where is my data stored?

Everything lives in one family account that you control as parents. The data is stored in the cloud (Google Cloud) and encrypted in transit to and from your device. No other family can see your stories and nothing is made public. There are no ads. We use Google Analytics for visitor statistics only if you accept it in the cookie notice.

Which languages and countries do you support?

DreamTales is available on the web in six languages: English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Icelandic. For now the service is sold in Norway.
